What Have You Been Working On?

Daily writing prompt
What have you been working on?

Short answer: a lot.

Long answer: I’ve been dipping my toes into so many different projects, but I haven’t properly started on many of them, simply because there isn’t enough time to do it. Damn my need for a day job!

Studying for the Network+

I already have my A+, so I’m trying to see if I can get the CompTIA trifecta. There’s a lot of material to cover, and I’m trying to carve out some time each day to study. But it’s hard to stay on top of it, especially when all I want to do when I come back from work is play a game and go to bed.

Building my Twitch and YouTube channels

One of the biggest pieces of advice for channel growth is consistency. Consistent uploads are at the top of the list, so I’ve been trying to get my videos out on a regular basis; twice a week. Since I’m the only one editing, it DOES take a significant chunk of my time. Hopefully, I’ll be able to hire an editor soon.

Making a Game

I’ve been dabbling with RPGMaker on and off for a while. It’s a good tool for a baseline game, but I’m trying to see what more I can do with it, then make a proper game to put on itch.io or Steam. I’m also curious about Godot and Unreal. Ever since the Unity thing a few years ago, I’ve been hesitant to try it. But, some of the ideas I have for games might be better suited for a 3-D environment.

Building a PC

I have a few parts lying around; cases, memory, and SATA drives. With the beauty of PC Part Picker, I’ve been finding compatible parts for the pieces I have. While I’m also looking to upgrade my current regular PC, I also have a smaller form factor case that I can probably use to make a media server or little arcade machine.

Learning the Piano

I have a Casio keyboard, and I’ve been fiddling around with it. Again, I need to try and take some time out for it, but after a long day at work and braving the horror that is southern Florida traffic, I just want to chill. Piano is a bit more relaxing than studying networking, at least.

I’m one of those people that has bursts of motivation, then loses it for a long time afterward. This year, I’m trying to make more time for the projects I started.
